Movement variability in Pilates: a scoping review

Objective This scoping review aimed to identify studies that analyzed movement variability in Pilates. Following a systematic approach mapping evidence on this topic would highlight concepts, theories, sources, and knowledge gaps area. Methods used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses extension Scoping (PRISMA-ScR) criteria selection, reading, analysis of We searched five literature databases (Web Science, SCOPUS, library catalog Faculty Sport Physical Education University Coimbra—EBSCO Discovery Services, MEDLINE, Google Scholar). Eligible articles contained word “Pilates,” human was analyzed. Any type study (except reviews) could be eligible must have been published between 1 January 2002 30 November 2022, Portuguese, Spanish, French, or English. Results Our search identified entries. Only one Pilates method its intervention, pointing more significant hip–knee coordination, suggesting diversified coordination patterns, maintaining angular position joint. Conclusion Very few examined Pilates, only applied an ecological framework.
